Balls (January - February)

The tradition of balls is deeply rooted in the Austrian History. Between January and February, when it is "Fasching", the Austrian Carnival, balls are held nearly every weekend all over town.

So if you love to waltz, foxtrot, cha and jive you are just right in Vienna, music capital of the world and the birthplace of Viennese Waltz!

Opernball (February)

The most famous, expensive and glamorous is the Viennese Opernball, which has been located in the Vienna State Opera since 1877.
Because of it's long-lasting tradition, it's exclusive ambient and its esthetical opening ceremony, the Opernball has been a draw to the international high society ever since.
Many stars like Sophia Lauren, Grace Jones, Heather Locklear, Pamela Anderson have visited this famous ball.

Philharmonic Ball - Philharmoniker Ball (February)

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra invites you to their native residence the Musikverein for a ball with musical enjoyment guaranteed. Alongside the Opernball this ball is one of the most important ones in Vienna, due the sound of its most famous orchestra in the world.

Other Famous Balls (January - February)

Blumenball: In the festive halls of Vienna's city hall traditional flower ball takes place. It is famous for its spectacular flower arrangements!
Zuckerbäckerball: Vienna's confectioners organise this ball in the halls of modern Austria Center Vienna. They show off their art at the exquisite buffet!
Kaffeesiederball: This ball is in honor of Vienna's favourite beverage: coffee. Highlights are the performances of opera ball orchestra, state opera ballet and traditional dancing school Elmayer.
