Its many nooks and crannies, narrow and winding roads and
its medieval and baroque houses, define Blutgassen district,
the area next to St. Stephan’s
Cathedral.
Most of its beautiful courtyards are accessible to the public.
Quite unsurprisingly, a quarter this old has many legends
to tell, like the story of the fear-inspiring basilisk, which
lived in a deep well and was held responsible for all things
that went wrong.
