Lately, Vienna
has developed a new beach: central Danube canal, which flows
past the 1st district. Summer Stage
features facilities for playing boule, live concerts and yummy
food, Strandbad Herrmann scores with several tons of
fine sand for 'real' beach feeling, summery cocktails and a
decent DJ line. FLEX, a trendy club on the banks of Danube canal, features
a see-through annex for its guests. Adria Wien is the
name of another sandy beach venue at 'Salztorbrücke'. A
new highlight on the Danube Canal is the Bathing Boat
("Badeschiff"). It's a converted Danube cargo ship
featuring a pool and sundeck to entice water lovers. Twin
city liner is a fast catamaran, which transports its guests
from Vienna to Bratislava in 45 minutes and departs from 'Schwedenplatz'.
